The International Symposium on Archaeometry (ISA) is a specialized forum for research and applications of Archaeometry and Archaeological Sciences that covers the full spectrum of topics, materials, techniques, chronologies and regions.

The aim of this symposium is to promote the development and use of scientific techniques, for the extraction of archaeological and historical information from the cultural heritage and the paleoenvironment. It involves all Natural Sciences and all types of objects and materials related with human activity.

Emphasis will be given to integrated and multi-disciplinary studies involving archaeological or anthropological research.

The 42nd International Symposium on Archaeometry (ISA 2018) will be held in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico, from May 20-26, 2018, as a multi-institutional organization supported by the National Network of Applied Sciences for the Research and Conservation of Cultural Heritage, CONACYT, the Institute of Physics of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (IF-UNAM), the Autonomous University of Yucatan (UADY) and the Colegio de Michoacan (Colmich).

The ISA2018 will open on May 20 with and important academic activity: the Workshop Recent Advances in the Investigation of Ancient Mortars and Binders on May 20 (free access for ISA participants). This workshop is co-organized by Prof. Gilberto Artioli in collaboration with the Commission on Crystallography in Art and Cultural Heritage of the International Union of Cristallography  (IUCr – CrysAC). The ISA Welcome Reception will follow after the workshop.
