The science, and in particular chemistry, plays an important role in the sustainable preservation of our cultural heritage through the investigation of ancient materials with the aim of understanding their technologies and degradation process. State of the art analytical instrumentations and methods, which are always improved, allow access to information from surviving works of art and provide the tools for the diagnostic and protection of Cultural Heritage.
The congress will be co-organized by the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage and the University of Antwerp.
The conference will include the following sessions:
- Alteration of pigments
- Imaging techniques
- Archeometry (glass, ceramics, metals)
- Organic materials
- Modern art
- Early Netherlandish Art
Abstract submission
You are invited to submit your abstracts for oral presentations and/or posters before January 31, 2016. The accepted abstracts will be published in the ChemCh2016 book of abstracts.
Publication
Speakers will be invited to submit manuscripts based on their presentations for publication in a special themed issue of the open access journal “Heritage Science”.
