Cultural and natural heritage is today at the heart of our societies. Making this heritage more accessible, protecting it, knowing it better and understanding its history promote intercultural dialogue and social cohesion. Through tourism and creative industries, scientific research on heritage generates important economic spinoffs. Entire emerging research areas, new methodological developments and innovations and enhancement of interdisciplinary collaborations between experimental sciences, human sciences and environmental sciences contribute to a deep renewal of research on heritage materials.
In this context, IPANEMA organises, with the French Académies des sciences and under the aegis of the Groupe interacadémique pour le développement (GID), the “Frontiers in Heritage Science” International Symposium in partnership with the Académie des Beaux-Arts (France), the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres (France), the Académie des Technologies (France), the Académie algérienne des sciences et technologies (Algeria), the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei (Italy), the Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften (Austria), the Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen (The Netherlands), the Kungliga Vetenskapsakademien (Sweden) and the Royal Society (United Kingdom).
The Symposium will be held from 13th to 16th February 2019 in the new auditorium of the Institut de France in Paris. It will gather internationally renowned scientists, from a broad range of countries, and from the different disciplines. It will provide a constructive synthesis of current works and future perspectives in the field. This synthesis will be a valuable resource to define the strategic research agendas of participating institutions. The last day will see an event devoted to the general public, thus opening research to society.
Registration and the program will be available soon. We invite you as of now to save the dates from 13th to 16th February 2019.
The Symposium is supported by the European Commission (E-RIHS PP project, H2020 n°739503) and the Région Île-de-France (DIM Matériaux anciens et patrimoniaux).
