In November 2011, the Adoration of the Magi left the Uffizi Gallery and for many months the Opificio delle Pietre Dure carried out a campaign of scientific investigations, which made it possible to know the structure, materials and conservation problems of the large painting.
A video tells the story of this restoration unveiling features and secrets, and shows how scientific analyses carried out together with Iperion HS and E-RIHS partners can contribute to preserving the European heritage.
The scientific investigations were also carried out thanks to the collaboration with the INFN cultural heritage network, INFN-CHNet, which used XRF imaging for the identification of the preparatory drawing and characterization of the materials used.
