Mass spectrometer based Omics (Proteomics, Lipidomics, Glycomics, metabolomics) for Heritage Science

High and very high resolution mass spectrometers (Orbitrap MS, FT-ICR MS) hyphenated with nano-liquid chromatography and electrophoresis. The mass spectrometers are equipped with the most sensitive ionization techniques (ESI, MALDI) and give access full range of fragmentation techniques (CID, ECD, ETD, IRMPD, UVPD). The platforms are also equipped with all the material required for heritage sample preparation and with the specialized software including databases for data interpretation.

Potential Results

MS_Omics allows to identify the source and the species of natural organic compounds (e.g. proteins, lipids, polysaccharides) in complex mixtures and their modifications (natural and by men). The organic material may be enchased in minerals (binders in art painting, clays, stucco, paleontological bones…). The technique gives also access to information on modern polymers in paints, varnishes or artworks.
