The portable instrumental prototype is composed of a compact Deuterium-Halogen lamp coupled with high sensitive CCD spectrometers working in the UV-VIS-NIR which allow reflectance spectra between 200-1600 nm range to be collected. A dedicated fibre optic system allow measurements on any surface to be done. The size of the whole probe is less than 2 mm2. The analized object can be in whatever position and a free area of about 2x2 meters is needed close to it. Low intensity of illumination, despite not mandatory, allows a better result to be obtained.
Potential Results
The technique allows characterization of inorganic pigment, dyes and colorants to be performed.
