Soil micromorphology set of tools

Potential Results

Micromorphology is a wide ranging aid to archaeological interpretation, based on the answering of detailed questions at a microscopic scale. It is well suited to comparisons of deposits with parent materials and to the tracing of old land surfaces. Inclusions of microscopic wastes have become an important component of micromorphological studies into the use of domestic space, through examination of dumped or discarded material including ash, food remains and charcoal. Processes affecting the materials and the host deposits can often be detailed in a way not possible at the field scale.
