Webinar JPI 1: organized jointly by E-RIHS HS Academy and JPI-CH

The Users Meeting webinars are organized regularly by the HS Academy, a collaborative initiative between IPERION HS and E-RIHSIn the last trimester 2023, a special series of Joint E-RIHS and JPI-CH webinars will be held live to showcase and discuss selected and funded Joint Programming Initiative on Cultural Heritage and Global Change (JPI-CH) projects.

These webinars are organized in collaboration with the Joint Programming Initiative on Cultural Heritage and Global Change.

The Webinar JPI 1, dedicated to the JPI-CH project WOODPDLAKE, will be held online on October 10th, 2023 at 3 pm (Rome time zone) using the ZOOM webinar platform.

Abstract

WOODPDLAKE’s main objective is to assess the impact of climate change and extreme climate events on the conservation and safeguard of pile dwellings in Mediterranean lakes. The lecture describes the characteristics and the extent of degradation in waterlogged wood in the Vulcanic Lake of Bolsena. It will be showed the protocol analysis and some results related to the environmental parameters which could impact on waterlogged wood conservation and lakeside archaeological settlements. Besides analysis on the lake, aquarium to test artificial aging will be showed in order to test models simulating recurring climatic stress events. The project takes into account also results related to investigations aiming to improve knowledge such as dendrochronology.

About the speaker

Manuela Romagnoli DIBAF University of Tuscia, Italy

MSc . in Forestry and Environmental Sciences, PhD in Wood Science, Full Professor in Wood Technology and Harvesting at the Department of Innovation in Biology, Agrifood and Forestry (DIBAF), University of Tuscia, Italy. Vice-Director of Department. Main skills and research topics are the following: Bio-nanotechnology and nanomaterials in wood science; biocomposites; wood treatments; wood quality; wood in Cultural Heritage, wood restoration, forestry and forest-wood chain. Author and co-author of about 180 publications in national and international journals, papers of congress proceedings, 74 papers listed in SCOPUS. Editor of books, editor of international journals; evaluator of scientific projects; member of the Cost Action LignoCOST; Erasmus coordinator with Ljubjana University and Gottingen University. Furthermore, she is responsible for several scientific projects, including JPICH2019 WOODPDLAKE and BIONANOINLEGNO of the Cultural Heritage District in Latium Region.
