Technique: UV-Vis fluorescence time-decay

Portable prototype for UV-VIS fluorescence time-decay

The portable instrumental prototype is composed of pulsed diode lasers and LEDs at 375, 450 and 630 nm in the ns-ms lifetime range coupled with high sensitive photocatod working in the 350-850 spectral rgion which allow time-resolved fluorescence experiments to be performed. A dedicated fibre optic system allow measurements on any surface to be done. The size of the whole probe is less than 2 mm2. The analized object can be in whatever position and a free area of about 2x2 meters is needed close to it. Low intensity of illumination, despite not mandatory, allows a better result to be obtained.

Potential Results

The technique allows characterization of luminescence decay lifetime of inorganic pigments, dyes and colorants to be performed.
